Vintage Shiny Ornament - Realism Painting

I wanted to play around with a different type of background, so I painted this simple vintage ornament just to see if I would like a scruffy background.  I'm pleased with the result.  It gives a little more interest to a very simple subject, but still pulls off realism. 
This painting actually seems to trick the eye, the more you look at it.  The ornament is on a flat background and yet still appears to be sitting up because of the cast shadow, creating an unusual illusion.

It is appealing to me that the colors aren't typical "Christmas" colors but are something a little more trendy right now, yet also vintage.   Once framed, I think this would be a fun painting to be displayed on a table easel.   :) Tracy
